Golden Water Buckets, from Caverns & Chasms, are golden buckets that contain up to three source blocks of water.
Obtaining
Bucket pickup

By using an empty or half-filled golden buckets on a water source or a water cauldron, the bucket can be filled with water. If the bucket already has water in it, its filled level will increase by 1.
Sponge Draining
After a Wet Sponge is finished smelting in a furnace, if there is an empty golden bucket in the fuel slot, it will be filled with water.
Usage

All filled golden buckets can contain three instances of a fluid, represented by a "level" constant. Due to coding conventions, this "level" constant will always be 1 less than the bucket's actual fill amount.
When fluid is consumed, the bucket's level will decrease by 1. When fluid is added, its level will increase by 1. When its level is 2, the bucket contains 3 instances of fluids and is full. If its level would decrease from 0 to -1, an empty golden bucket is returned.
Golden water buckets can be used against a block to place water there. If a bucket is not full, it can also be used to pick up water sources. If players want to empty a bucket instead of picking up more water, they can sneak-use the bucket on water instead.
Since golden water buckets can contain three water sources, they can create an infinite water source with just one item.
As a golden water bucket's filled level increases, its sprite will appear to have a larger capacity.
Unlike normal water buckets, golden water buckets cannot pick up fish.
Cauldron
A golden water bucket can be used on a Cauldron to completely fill it with water, overwriting its previous contents.
Transportation

Golden water buckets can be used for player maneuverability, similarly to normal buckets.
Dispensers

Dispensing filled golden water buckets will place a water source in front of the dispenser. Dispensing a not-full golden water bucket into a water source will pick up the fluid.

Modded recipes involving water buckets can be made compatible with a datapack by changing all instances of "item": "minecraft:water_bucket" to "tag": "forge:buckets/water".
