Bejeweled Pearl
Bejeweled pearls are a variant of ender pearl from Caverns & Chasms crafted with spinel. They can be thrown to teleport players where they land, but unlike ender pearls, they are fragile and liable to break before landing, teleporting the player midair.

Usage
Controlled teleportation
Like ender pearls, bejeweled pearls can be used to teleport by throwing them. Unlike ender pearls, bejeweled pearls have a limited lifetime. During its flight, a bejeweled pearl will go through a maximum of 8 charge stages, during which it will become increasingly cracked until it breaks. Upon breaking, the player will immediately be teleported to its location even if the pearl has not yet hit the ground.
Bejeweled pearls can either be thrown immediately by tapping use (right click) or be "cooked" like a grenade by holding the button down. Upon releasing use, the pearl will be thrown with a decreased amount of charge stages, shortening its lifetime and making it break faster. Upon reaching the last charge stage, the pearl will be thrown automatically with a lifetime of 4 ticks (0.2 seconds).
Bejeweled Pearls have a maximum of eight stages lasting four ticks each, which means their maximum lifetime is 8 * 4 = 32 ticks (1.6 seconds). While being cooked, bejeweled pearls lose charge stages at the same rate as a thrown pearl-- 1 charge stage every 4 ticks. For example, a bejeweled pearl that has been cooked for 10 ticks will lose 2 charge stages, and its lifetime will thereby be 2 * 4 = 8 ticks (0.4 seconds) shorter. The charge stages of a bejeweled pearl are discrete units, which means a thrown bejeweled pearl can never start out with a lifetime that is not a multiple of 4 ticks.
